This bill proposes to amend Chapter 233 of the General Laws by adding a new section that would allow a written motion in limine (a pre-trial motion to exclude evidence) to be sufficient to preserve an objection for appellate purposes in a criminal proceeding, regardless of whether the objection is orally renewed at trial, unless the trial judge specifically states that the issue must be raised again at trial to be considered on the record as it then stands. This aims to preserve certain appellate rights in criminal proceedings.
