This bill amends Chapter 71 of the General Laws to require the principal, superintendent, or their designee to notify parents within 24 hours if local or state law enforcement is called to a school's grounds to make arrests or ensure student/faculty safety beyond the regular duties of the school's resource officer. The report must include the time law enforcement was called, the reason (without identifying individuals), and the time they left, but cannot include information that could identify specific students or faculty. The bill does not limit law enforcement's authority to make arrests or take urgent action to prevent harm, apprehend a suspect, preserve evidence, or address an emergency.
