This bill requires health care facilities to develop and implement programs to prevent workplace violence. Key provisions include: 1. The Department of Public Health must develop statewide standards for evaluating and addressing security risks at health care facilities, in consultation with an advisory committee representing various stakeholders. Facilities must submit summaries of their operational policies that comply with these standards. 2. Facilities must develop and implement workplace violence prevention programs, including employee training on crisis de-escalation, mental health/substance use competency, implicit bias, and trauma-informed care. 3. Facilities must designate a senior manager to develop an in-house crisis response team to support employee-victims of workplace violence. 4. Facilities must report incidents of assault, interference with the conduct of a health care facility, and aggravated interference to the Department of Public Health and the district attorney's office. 5. The bill also establishes leave protections and confidentiality requirements for health care employees who are victims of workplace violence, and creates new criminal offenses related to interfering with the conduct of a health care facility.
