This bill authorizes pharmacists to provide opioid use disorder treatment. Specifically, it allows for collaborative drug therapy management between pharmacists and physicians in certain settings, including hospitals, long-term care facilities, hospice settings, and retail drug businesses. Under this arrangement, pharmacists can extend current drug therapy, administer vaccines, and initiate, discontinue, or modify dosages of medications prescribed by the supervising physician for substance use disorders and other specified conditions. Pharmacists in retail settings with a collaborative practice agreement can also prescribe certain controlled substances, but only for the treatment of substance use disorders or other disorders specified in the supervising physician's referral.
