This bill aims to ensure resident safety within assisted living facilities in Massachusetts. The key provisions include: 1. Requiring every assisted living residence to establish a Human Rights Committee with the authority to receive and investigate complaints affecting the rights of residents. The Executive Office of Elder Affairs will promulgate regulations regarding the composition, terms, and duties of these committees, and provide annual training for the members. 2. Amending the law to require assisted living residences to comply with chapters 186 and 239 of the general laws, which pertain to residential tenancies and evictions, respectively. 3. Directing the Attorney General to promulgate regulations to protect the consumer rights of assisted living residents, including against unfair or deceptive acts or practices, and to consider violations of these regulations as violations of the state's consumer protection law (Chapter 93A). 4.
