This bill amends Chapter 94 of the General Laws to regulate the sale of meats, poultry, and edible fish at retail. It requires that all such products, except soft-shell clams and oysters, be sold by weight, with the weight determined at the time of sale. When these products are kept, offered, or exposed for sale by the portion or piece, the product identity, net weight, and unit price must be displayed. If the products are combined with other food elements to form a distinctive product, the total weight of the product can be used, and a list of ingredients in order of predominance must be provided. Violations of these provisions can result in a $10 fine or a civil citation.
