This bill amends Chapter 176W of the Massachusetts General Laws to allow individuals with dental benefit plans to direct their insurance benefits to be paid directly to a dental care provider that is not contracted with their insurance plan, as long as the provider meets the plan's credentialing criteria. The bill specifies that the amount paid to the non-contracted provider must be at least equal to the amount paid to participating providers. The insurance plan retains the right to review the records of the non-contracted provider to ensure the services were rendered. The bill exempts certain limited-benefit insurance policies from this requirement.
