This bill aims to improve educational support for children in foster care. It requires the Department of Children and Families, in consultation with various stakeholders, to (i) review its policies on the education of children under its custody, (ii) develop streamlined guidance for its area offices on responsibilities and procedures regarding the education of these children, (iii) promulgate regulations on the responsibilities of foster parents, social workers, the department, and school districts, and (iv) develop a program to inform new foster parents about their responsibilities and department services related to the education of the child. The bill also requires the department to annually report on aggregate data related to the education of children under its custody.
