This bill establishes an educational mandate task force to review existing state mandates placed on public schools and districts in the Commonwealth. The task force will be composed of 11 members, including legislators, the Commissioner of Elementary and Secondary Education, and representatives from various education organizations. The task force will identify and review state laws, regulations, and administrative directives that prescribe requirements for school districts, including reporting and data submission requirements, and develop recommendations to streamline, consolidate, or eliminate outdated, duplicative, or inconsistent mandates and reporting requirements. The task force will also consider the feasibility of creating a single master reporting form to prevent duplicate information reporting and a process for ensuring new laws or regulations do not duplicate existing reporting requirements. The task force is required to file a report with its findings and recommendations within 12 months of its first meeting and will conduct at least one public hearing before issuing its recommendations.
