This bill aims to improve access to breast pumps for mothers in Massachusetts. It requires health insurance plans, including those under the state's Group Insurance Commission, Medicaid, and other private insurers, to provide coverage for the rental and usage of multi-user breast pumps for mothers of newborns receiving intensive or special care, or with certain medical conditions that prevent direct breastfeeding. The coverage includes the cost of the breast pump, replacement parts, milk storage supplies, and services from International Board Certified Lactation Consultants. The multi-user breast pump must be made available to eligible mothers within 24 hours of hospital discharge.
