This bill establishes the Massachusetts Census Equity Commission to ensure a complete, accurate, and equitable census count in the Commonwealth. The commission will develop and implement census outreach programs to increase awareness, educate residents, and engage undercounted communities, such as communities of color, immigrants, low-income individuals, and persons experiencing homelessness. The commission will provide regular reports to the government, including proposed outreach programs, recommendations for legislative or regulatory action, and assessments of the success of past census efforts. The bill also requires that at least 40% of the funds spent on census outreach programs be directed towards undercounted communities.
