This bill establishes a one-year pilot program that provides tuition and fee waivers for senior citizens aged 60 and older who enroll in undergraduate programs, summer sessions, evening classes, or specific higher education courses at public institutions of higher education in the Commonwealth, including state universities, community colleges, and University of Massachusetts campuses. The bill requires the institutions to report the foregone tuition and fee revenues to the state Comptroller, who will then transfer an equivalent amount from the General Fund to the institutions. The total reimbursed revenues will serve as the base funding level to cover the annual cost of senior citizen tuition and fee waivers in the General Appropriations Act starting in Fiscal Year 2025.
