This bill aims to end child homelessness by prohibiting the eviction or removal of families with children under 18 from public housing, publicly subsidized housing, or shelters funded with public funds, unless the Housing Services Unit of the Department of Children and Families, in consultation with the Department of Housing and Community Development, has developed and is able to implement a plan to ensure that all children in the affected family will be housed in a suitable location. The bill also requires that all reasonable efforts be made to keep the children in the custody of their parents or other caregivers with whom they have been residing.
