This bill aims to amend Chapter 265 of the General Laws by adding a new section that imposes penalties for the reckless discharge of firearms, large capacity weapons, rifles, shotguns, sawed-off shotguns, or machine guns. The new section states that whoever intentionally or recklessly discharges such a weapon without regard for the risk of serious bodily injury to another and thereby causes a substantial risk of serious bodily injury to another shall be punished by imprisonment of up to 5 years in state prison or up to 2.5 years in the house of correction.
