This bill aims to further protect persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities from abuse. It does this by amending the definition of "Employer" to include entities that provide services or treatment to such individuals under certain contracts or funding arrangements. The bill also requires that the Department of Youth Services, Department of Children and Families, Department of Early Education and Care, Department of Mental Health, and Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, as well as any employer, check the abuse registry before hiring or retaining an employee, and prohibits them from hiring or retaining anyone whose name appears on the registry. The bill also clarifies that information in the abuse registry is confidential and cannot be publicly disclosed, except as necessary for employment decisions.
