This bill establishes a health safety net task force to study reimbursement for dental care and healthcare provided by Massachusetts hospitals and accredited teaching institutions to MassHealth (the state's Medicaid program) members. The 14-member task force, co-chaired by the chairs of the Joint Committee on Health Care Financing, will identify existing laws and regulations related to healthcare reimbursement, propose financial and procedural steps to allow payment to teaching facilities through MassHealth, and submit recommendations for legislative and regulatory changes to provide funding and reimbursement power to MassHealth for care from accredited Massachusetts hospitals and teaching facilities. The task force is required to submit a report, including any draft legislation and regulations, to the state legislature within 12 months of the bill's passage.
