This bill amends Chapter 112, Sections 66 to 73 of the Massachusetts General Laws to define "invasive surgical procedures." The bill defines such procedures as any that structurally alter the human body by incision, destruction, or cutting of tissues, as well as diagnostic or therapeutic treatments that use instruments to cause localized alteration or transposition of live human tissue, including the use of lasers, ultrasound, ionizing radiation, scalpels, probes, and needles. The bill clarifies that it does not restrict or expand the current scope of practice authorized under Chapter 112 for any profession licensed under that chapter.
