This bill amends the definition of "political designation" in Massachusetts law. It allows candidates for nomination to use a designation of up to three words that represents what they represent, and it allows groups of 500 registered voters to create a new political party designation, as long as it is not "Independent." However, if a new party designation has fewer than 0.25% of registered voters after two years, it will be dissolved, and those voters will be registered as "unenrolled." The bill takes effect upon passage.
