This bill aims to prevent death by drug overdose by authorizing emergency medical technicians (EMTs) to restrain patients who present an immediate or serious threat of bodily harm to themselves or others. It also requires that a person who has received an opioid antagonist due to an apparent drug overdose be transported by ambulance to a hospital for monitoring and observation, with or without the person's consent. The bill provides liability protections for EMTs, firefighters, and law enforcement personnel who in good faith render emergency care, including administering an opioid antagonist, transporting a person to a hospital, or restraining a person in accordance with the bill's provisions.
