This bill amends the existing law to require the Group Insurance Commission (GIC) to transfer all retirees, their spouses, and dependents who are 65 or older and not eligible for Medicare Part A at no cost, to Medicare Part A and Part B. The GIC will be responsible for paying the Medicare Part A premium and any penalty assessed on these individuals due to the transfer. The retirees must provide the necessary information to the GIC and enroll in a Medicare health benefits supplement plan offered by the GIC, ensuring that the benefits under the supplement plan and Medicare Part A and Part B are of comparable value to their existing coverage. The GIC must complete this transfer by July 1, 2024.
