This bill proposes to create an income tax deduction for municipal and school fees paid by taxpayers. Specifically, it would allow taxpayers to deduct from their Part B (personal) income any fees paid to a municipality or public school district for student transportation, participation in athletic, academic, enrichment or student activity programs, as well as fees paid for trash pickup or disposal, either directly to the municipality or through a "pay as you throw" program. The Commissioner of Revenue would be authorized to promulgate regulations to implement this new tax deduction.
