This bill further regulates the compensation of members of the Massachusetts General Court (the state legislature). It establishes additional regular compensation for certain leadership positions, such as the Senate President, House Speaker, and chairs of the Senate and House Ways and Means Committees. It also provides all members of the General Court with an additional $15,000 in compensation per annual session, on top of their base salary. Additionally, the bill sets expense allowances based on the distance of a member's primary residence from the State House, providing $12,500 for those within 50 miles and $17,500 for those more than 50 miles away. The additional compensation amounts will be adjusted biennially to reflect changes in salaries and wages in the Commonwealth.
