This bill establishes the Prevention and Wellness Trust Fund to be administered by the Department of Public Health. The fund will be used to support community-based preventive services, address the largest drivers of poor health and health disparities, and develop evidence-based primary prevention strategies. The bill establishes a Prevention and Wellness Advisory Board to provide recommendations on the administration and allocation of the fund. Additionally, the bill imposes a prevention and wellness surcharge on acute hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers, with the revenue deposited into the Prevention and Wellness Trust Fund.
