This bill amends the existing law on offshore wind energy generation in Massachusetts. The key provisions are: 1. It increases the minimum offshore wind energy generation capacity from 5,600 megawatts to 8,000 megawatts. 2. It requires distribution companies to enter into cost-effective long-term contracts for offshore wind energy generation equal to approximately 3,241 megawatts of aggregate nameplate capacity by June 30, 2022, rather than the previous deadline of June 30, 2027. 3.
