This bill establishes an Office of Economic Empowerment within the Office of the State Treasurer. The new office will perform functions determined by the Treasurer to provide equitable access to opportunities and resources through equity-centered programs, policies, and partnerships aimed at promoting economic mobility and financial independence for residents across the commonwealth. The office will be supervised by an Executive Director who will be responsible for administering and enforcing the laws and regulations related to the office, under the direction of the State Treasurer. The Executive Director can appoint and remove employees as needed, subject to appropriation, to carry out the duties of the office.
