This bill amends Massachusetts state law to increase the penalties for concealing the death of a child, and to prohibit the sale or purchase of minor children. Specifically, the bill strikes out the existing law on concealing a child's death and replaces it with a new provision that imposes a prison sentence of up to 5 years or a house of correction sentence of up to 2.5 years for such an offense. Additionally, the bill creates a new section that imposes the same prison sentences for anyone who trades, sells, or arranges the sale of a minor child, or who receives a minor child in exchange for payment or anything of value.
