This bill amends Chapter 119 of the General Laws to allow great-grandparents of an unmarried minor child to be granted reasonable visitation rights to the child if the parents are divorced, living apart, or deceased, or if the child was born out of wedlock and the parents do not reside together. The bill specifies that an adjudication of paternity or acknowledgment of paternity is not required for maternal great-grandparents to seek visitation rights. The bill also states that no visitation rights shall be granted if the child has been adopted by someone other than a stepparent, and any previously granted visitation rights will be terminated upon adoption.
