This bill establishes a voluntary "do-not-sell" list for firearms purchases in Massachusetts. The Department of Criminal Justice Information Services will maintain this list, which will be available only to law enforcement and licensing authorities. Individuals 18 years and older can apply to be enrolled in or removed from the list. Once enrolled, the Department will notify the Attorney General for the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, and the individual will be prohibited from purchasing, renting, or possessing firearms until they are removed from the list after a 21-day waiting period. The bill also amends existing laws to include enrollment on this list as a disqualifying factor for obtaining a firearms license or identification card.
