This bill amends the Massachusetts General Laws to require drivers of motor vehicles and motor carrier vehicles to make reasonable efforts to remove accumulated ice or snow from their vehicles, including the hood, trunk, and roof, within 24 hours of the snowfall ending. There are exceptions for drivers of motor carrier vehicles, mass transit vehicles, buses, or school buses who are en route to a facility to remove the snow or ice, or if compliance would violate other safety laws or pose a threat to the driver's health and safety. Drivers who violate this requirement may be stopped by police officers if the accumulated ice or snow is believed to pose a threat to persons or property, and they will be subject to the penalty provisions in the existing law.
