This bill aims to provide informed consent prior to the performance of certain chemical abortions. It requires that, except in the case of a medical emergency, a physician or their agent must inform the pregnant female at least 24 hours before a chemical abortion using mifepristone and misoprostol that it may be possible to safely prevent the intended effects of the abortion if the female changes her mind, and provide information on resources available to help reverse the effects of the abortion. The bill also requires the Massachusetts Department of Public Health to publish materials and maintain a website to inform women about the possibility of reversing the effects of a chemical abortion using mifepristone. It imposes penalties for violations and provides a civil cause of action for certain individuals affected by an abortion performed without compliance with the bill's requirements.
