This bill aims to modernize childhood lead poisoning prevention in Massachusetts. It amends the existing law by: 1) defining "blood lead level of concern" as a lead concentration in a child under 6 that is less than the defined level for lead poisoning; 2) defining "lead poisoning" as a lead concentration in a child under 6 that is at or above the level defined by the Department of Public Health; 3) requiring the Department to perform public health surveillance and provide case management services for children with a blood lead level of concern; and 4) increasing the tax credit and damages amounts related to lead poisoning prevention and remediation. The bill sets different effective dates for the various provisions.
