This bill aims to encourage the reporting of certain violations by offering financial incentives and protecting whistleblowers from retaliation by employers. It amends existing law to provide that individuals who report suspected violations in specific areas, such as housing, taxation, and labor laws, and whose reports substantially contribute to the prosecution of those violations, shall receive 10% of the proceeds recovered. The bill also prohibits the disclosure of information that could reveal a whistleblower's identity and prohibits employers from penalizing employees for reporting violations or seeking their rights. Employers who retaliate against whistleblowers would face penalties or civil citations.
