This bill requires the crime laboratory within the Department of the State Police to conduct an audit of the state DNA databank system to identify the number of DNA profiles that are missing and should have been collected under the law. The audit will focus on offenders who were required to provide DNA samples, including those covered under retroactive provisions of the law. The bill mandates a preliminary report with the overall number of owed DNA samples within 90 days or by December 15, 2023, whichever is sooner, and a final report with additional details by December 15, 2023. Thereafter, an annual audit and report to the Legislature will be required by December 15 each year.
