This bill establishes a statewide goal of producing 427,000 new housing units in Massachusetts by 2040, including 85,400 units affordable to households earning less than 80% of the Area Median Income, with at least 8,500 of these affordable units for households earning less than 30% of the Area Median Income. The Secretary of Housing and Economic Development must report annually on progress towards these goals, including a breakdown of the types of units created. The report must also include information on residential properties purchased by foreign buyers and short-term rentals, as required by previous legislation.
