This bill appropriates $1,500,000 in fiscal year 2024 from the general fund to the Commissioner of Employment and Economic Development for a grant to Tending the Soil MN, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The grant will be used to evaluate potential sites, acquire property for, and predesign the Rise Up Center, a facility that will provide workforce development and job training, housing, and administrative and public gathering spaces in the city of Minneapolis. The appropriation is a one-time funding and is available until the project is completed or abandoned, subject to Minnesota Statutes, section 16A.642. The bill is effective the day following final enactment.
