This bill authorizes the Board of Occupational Therapy to: 1. Issue a license by reciprocity as an occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant to an applicant who holds a valid and unrestricted license in another state that is a member of the Occupational Therapy Licensure Compact and meets the requirements set forth in the bill. 2. Issue a provisional license to a person who has passed the examination approved by the Board, graduated from an accredited educational program, and is eligible to take the national examination for certification. The provisional license allows the person to practice under the general supervision of a licensed occupational therapist. 3. Issue citations to licensees for certain violations, such as failure to provide contact information or proof of continuing education, and impose administrative fines of up to $500. The bill also revises the qualifications for obtaining a license as an occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant, replacing the educational and fieldwork experience requirements with a need to hold a current certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. Additionally, the bill provides a salary for members of the Board while engaged in Board business.
