Bill Summary

Provide property tax exemption for wireless infrastructure

AI Summary

This bill provides a property tax exemption for wireless infrastructure installed in rural areas, areas within the boundaries of a federally recognized Indian reservation, and other areas of the state with little or no current wireless services. The exemption applies to wireless infrastructure placed in service between the effective date of the act and July 1, 2031, and lasts for 5 years, after which the exemption is phased out over 10 years. The exemption does not apply if any portion of the wireless infrastructure is installed using federal or state grants that are not required to be repaid. The bill also requires the Department of Revenue to report to the Legislative Finance Committee on the deployment and use of the wireless infrastructure abatement.
