This bill enacts the "school security guard training enhancement act," which requires school security guards in New York, including retired police officers, to obtain a specialized certification in addition to the general security guard license. The specialized certification will include training on topics like the role and responsibility of school security officers, school-related laws and liability, security awareness in the educational environment, and conflict resolution. The bill requires the Department of State, in consultation with the Department of Education and other agencies, to implement and enforce the standardized training program statewide.
