This bill amends the Human Services Code to establish the Mental Health Workforce Retention Program, which will provide grants of $5,000 to eligible mental health workers who have been employed for at least seven consecutive years focusing on adolescents. The Department of Human Services will administer the program, including developing a lottery system to select recipients. The bill appropriates $5 million from the General Fund on a continuing basis to fund the program, and the Department's authority to award grants will expire on June 30, 2028. The grants awarded under the program will not be considered taxable income.
