This bill prohibits a landlord from requiring a tenant to pay any fee or other charge for the performance of any repairs, maintenance tasks, or other work for which the landlord has a duty to maintain the habitability of the dwelling unit. However, the bill provides an exception, allowing the landlord to require the tenant to pay for any such work necessary due to the tenant's own deliberate or negligent act or omission, or that of a member of the tenant's household or other person on the premises with the tenant's consent. The bill also defines "insurance for home protection" and "service contract" as used in the relevant section of the Nevada Revised Statutes.
