This bill, known as the Religious Viewpoint Antidiscrimination Act, prohibits public school districts from discriminating against students based on their voluntary expression of religious viewpoints on otherwise permissible subjects. It requires school districts to adopt policies that ensure religious viewpoints are treated the same as secular viewpoints, and to establish a limited public forum for student speakers that does not discriminate against religious expression. The bill also allows students to express their religious viewpoints in homework, classwork, and other assignments without penalty or reward based on the religious content. If the law is challenged in court, the Attorney General may defend it or request that the First Liberty Institute do so.
