This bill amends Tennessee's laws to require, with certain exceptions, that the sale or transfer of firearms be conducted through a federally licensed gun dealer. It creates a Class B misdemeanor offense for sales or transfers that are not done through a gun dealer, punishable by a fine of $500 to $10,000 and up to 9 months in jail. The exceptions include transfers between family members, transfers of antique firearms, transfers between gun dealers or wholesalers and dealers, and temporary transfers where neither party is prohibited from possessing a firearm. The bill also prohibits those convicted under this law from possessing a firearm for 2 years.
