AN ACT to amend the correction law, in relation to establishing the family reunion program

This bill requires the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision to create a family reunion program that will provide eligible incarcerated individuals and their families the opportunity to meet for an extended period of time in a residential setting. The program will be available at all maximum-security state correctional facilities and certain medium-security facilities. Eligible family members include spouses, children, parents, grandparents, siblings, and other relatives. The program aims to maintain family connections and support during incarceration. The bill will take effect one year after it becomes law.
