This bill requires the Commissioner of Public Safety to review the process for reinstating driving privileges following a driving while impaired (DWI) incident. The review must identify any requirements that unnecessarily impede a person's ability to regain their driving privileges, such as requiring difficult-to-obtain documents from the past. If the Commissioner identifies such requirements in the Department's rules or policies, they are authorized to amend or update those rules or policies to facilitate driving privilege reinstatement, as long as it is consistent with public safety. The Commissioner must also report to the legislature by February 15, 2024, on any recommended changes to statutes, rules, or policies, as well as any actions taken under the bill.
