This bill, the Addressing Social Isolation and Loneliness in Older Adults Act of 2023 (also known as the Addressing SILO Act of 2023), amends Title XX of the Social Security Act to provide grants and training to support area agencies on aging or other community-based organizations in addressing social isolation among vulnerable older adults and adults with disabilities. The key provisions include: 1) Grants to conduct outreach, develop community-based interventions to mitigate loneliness or social isolation, connect at-risk individuals with community supports, and evaluate the effectiveness of these programs; 2) Training for area agencies on aging or community-based organizations on addressing and preventing social isolation and loneliness; and 3) A requirement for the Secretary to report to Congress every 3 years on the extent to which these programs address social isolation and loneliness. The bill appropriates $62.5 million per year for fiscal years 2024 through 2027 to carry out these provisions.
