This bill amends the social services law to require the Office of Children and Family Services to update the training provided to mandated reporters (individuals required to report suspected child abuse or maltreatment) to include guidance on identifying abused or maltreated children with intellectual or developmental disabilities. The bill also requires the Office to update its guidelines for local child protective services to include guidance on identifying abused or maltreated children with intellectual or developmental disabilities. The bill gives mandated reporters one year to receive the updated training.
