This bill, called the "Stop Penalizing Working Seniors Act," aims to amend the Internal Revenue Code to allow individuals who are only enrolled in Medicare Part A (the hospital insurance program) to contribute to Health Savings Accounts (HSAs). Currently, individuals enrolled in Medicare are not eligible to contribute to HSAs, even if they are only enrolled in Part A and not the other parts of Medicare. This bill seeks to change that, enabling these seniors who are still working and only have Part A coverage to take advantage of the tax benefits of HSAs.
