This bill, the Community Solar Consumer Choice Act of 2023, requires the Secretary of Energy to establish a program to increase access to community solar programs for individuals, businesses, non-profits, and state/local/tribal governments. The bill also sets timelines for state regulatory authorities and non-regulated utilities to consider and implement the community solar program standard. Finally, the bill extends the maximum contract period for federal public utility services from 10 to 30 years.
