This bill creates an identification card program for incarcerated individuals in local correctional facilities. The identification cards issued through this program will be identical to the non-driver identification cards issued to the general public, and the fees for these cards will be waived. The bill requires the sheriff of the local correctional facility to notify the incarcerated individuals about the program and assist them in obtaining the identification cards prior to their release, if requested. The identification cards obtained through this program will be kept in the incarcerated individual's records until their release, at which point the cards will be provided to them.
