This bill amends the Michigan Right to Farm Act to provide for generally accepted agricultural and management practices for rearing egg-laying hens in residential areas under certain conditions. The bill requires the Commission of Agriculture and Rural Development to issue proposed practices by September 1, 2023, and adopt them by October 1, 2023. The practices must include standards for the minimum property size (1/4 acre) and maximum number of hens (5 per 1/4 acre or 25 total). The bill also makes other changes to the investigation and resolution of complaints involving farm operations.
